An overly exprssed topic, but behind the colourful, glossy pages of the innocent looking teen magazines lies a primitive bunch of editors with their primitive, sexist beliefs. Sadly, this is just a selling technique, but why are GIRLS so interested to know what guys think (their ‘what guys think of you’ quiz) and how to be skinny so you can underdress for next summer?
Why not teach young women some values and morals, other than pretend to care by having just one untouched, unphotoshopped picture in the whole mag (except for the pounds of makeup they pack on, they are totally natural looking!)
Even the ‘how embarrassing’ pages consist of making a fool in front of guys, while you’re trying to impress them. How quickly does our generation have to be so sexualised? Why are we growing up so fast?
If you go down to the shops right now, a group of 11 year olds will be hanging around in their shortest shorts, pockets dangling from their hips, wearing make up and a handbad strung to their small shoulders. A shirt saying ‘kiss me’ or ‘i love taylor lautner’ will also hand on their still undeveloped bodies.
This is extremely sad, we’re forgetting that we are not adults yet, we’re still young and we have time to enjoy ourselves, not just impress the opposite sex all day with pouting lips and short clothes.
I do wear shorts, so I’m not having a go at short stuff, just people overdoing it.
